Spotlight: Healthcare company sought improved payroll accuracy

As the owner of Home Care Assistance, Rick Cohen takes pride in providing caregivers and care management to seniors and their families throughout southeast Wisconsin.

Rick is definitely hands-on in the daily operations of the company, headquartered in Whitefish Bay. He’s focused on caregiver quality assurance, case management, advertising, marketing and PR in addition to further developing the business.

So, when a payroll provider Rick was working with for several years began to offer a less than quality experience, he was forced to stop and take a second look at the relationship. He didn’t like what he saw.

“This was a major national payroll service that was making changes without notifying me, and the accuracy of our payroll was quickly deteriorating,” recalls Rick. “I moved to another local payroll company, but their integration and transition were unfortunately flawed from day one. So, after one quarter of dealing with this challenge, I was left scratching my head about what to do next.”

Rick called his business banker and that led to a meeting with John Feaman of IPS.

“Our first meeting with IPS led to a second meeting a week later, and from that date, I have had complete confidence in both John and Pete Feaman.”

Rick says payroll accuracy is crucial to the company’s success. Home Care Assistance’s payroll can be complicated with many different pay codes and a workforce that’s constantly changing.

“After working with two providers who failed miserably, IPS took over the integration of our data and helped make the year-end seamless and accurate.

“IPS is supportive and offers assistance with every payroll. They even write customized reports as I need them. I have every confidence in their team and the advice they provide.”

At Home Care Assistance, Rick says their seniors live well thanks to the wonderful caregivers on staff who have the ‘Caring Gene’. That kind of “care”, he says, is also evident in his partnership with IPS.

“I take business relationships personally,” Rick says. “It’s important that a company deliver on their promises.  I have never been disappointed by IPS and look forward to a long-term relationship.”
